Penny Storey – Executive Director

Penny graduated from TCD with first class honours in English Literature and went on to complete an MPhil. She later completed a degree in Business and Information Technology and is currently enrolled on an MSc in Strategic Management programme.

Penny has developed a broad range of experience in the university sector through roles in the Trinity Access Programme (Acting Co-ordinator), Senior Lecturer’s Area (Office Manager: Student Records, Office Manager: Admissions, Schools Liaison Officer) and the CTVR research centre (Administrator).

Penny believes in operational effectiveness and her experience of the University sector has been key to the effective integration of all participating institutions. Her role in CTVR requires her to manage and oversee personnel, finances and events across all the institutions involved in CTVR.

Mark Cooney – Business Development Manager

Mark comes to CTVR with +20 years experience in the hi-tech and business sectors. He has served in a number of senior technical and managerial roles with Philips Semiconductors, Intel, and IBEC.

Mark's job, in conjunction with the research teams, is to promote commercial development by identifying opportunities within the research programme, and to facilitate their progression towards commercially viable enterprises. Mark is also responsible for managing & promoting the commercial relationship with our industry partners and for seeking out and enabling new opportunities.

Jessica Foley – Education & Outreach

Jessica Foley is an artist and teacher working in the capacity of Education & Outreach with CTVR. Her research and practice often explores aspects of scientific discovery and the evolution of technology, through writing, image and filmmaking. She is currently investigating the Phenomenology of Technology, ways of Seeing/Thinking/Feeling the World, and the nature of Communication.

Shirley Walsh – Centre Administration

Shirley comes from a background of construction administration; she joined the CTVR team in April 2010. Shirley over sees the day to day general administration at the Centre. She is the first port of call for general, telephone or internet enquiries. She liaises with different department within the College - including TRI, Treasurer’s Office, Staff Office and Building Office to name but a few.

In addition to this Shirley liaises with principal investigators, researchers and administration staff in other Universities. In her role at CTVR Shirley assists in the co-ordination of events attended by all or some of the Centre’s contributors, collaborators and funding agencies.
