Cognitive Radio & Reconfigurable Systems

Brief bio:

Research Fellow. Chair of the Economic aspects of CR/SDR regulation working group within COST-TERRA. Member of the management committee of COST-TERRA and COST-IC0902. Founded the demonstrations tracks in the IEEE Symposium on New Frontiers in Dynamic Spectrum Access Networks (DySPAN) conference series.

Ph.D. Electronic Engineering (TCD, 2005)

B.A. B.A.I Electronic Engineering (TCD, 2000)

Received a Ph.D degree in Electronic Engineering for work on reconfigurable orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) in 2005 from University of Dublin, Trinity College. OFDM underpins many of today’s digital television, digital radio and wireless broadband technologies.

Contributions include:

  • A reconfigurable OFDM transceiver.
  • Low-complexity OFDM frame synchronisation.
  • Dynamic OFDM and subcarrier allocation.
  • Subcarrier modulation scheme recognition.
