Cognitive radio and dynamic spectrum access demonstrations in Chicago this Oct.

The demonstrations for this year’s IEEE DySPAN symposium in Chicago have been selected. Out of the applicants, 17 proposals from 14 groups spread across the US & Canada, Europe, and Asia made the cut. In addition to impressive standalone demos, we’re expecting some highly interesting interaction (and hopefully innovation) involving the various demonstrations. There will be a good mix of ‘whitespace’ devices that will deal with dynamic transmission sources, demonstrations of policy-based systems, and demonstrations built on SDR and cognitive radio-based networks. Here’s the list of groups that will be taking part:

  • Adaptrum (USA)
  • Centre for Telecommunications Value-Chain Research (Rep. of Ireland)
  • Centre for Wireless Telecommunications, Virginia Tech (USA)
  • Delft University of Technology (the Netherlands)
  • Institute for Infocomm Research (I2R) (Singapore)
  • Motorola (USA)
  • OMESH Networks (Canada)
  • Philips Research (USA)
  • PrismTech (USA)
  • Rockwell Collins (USA)
  • Shared Spectrum Company (USA)
  • University of South Florida/Anritsu (USA)
  • Stevens Institute of Technology (USA)
  • University of Utah (USA)

We’ll add more information about these to the demonstrations webpage on the DySPAN ‘08 website over the next few weeks.
